Englishtown, N.J.
Mike Berry took his
MB Precision Machining Pro Stock Motorcycle into eliminations at the K &
N Filters SuperNationals, laying down the fastest run by a Suzuki in
the opening round, only to be stopped by Ryan Schnitz who was busy
setting low elapsed time of the weekend.
“We finally work
hard enough to be the best Suzuki of the session, only to run into
someone who is close to re-setting the track record,” said Berry.
“We had a pretty good weekend going until we ran into Schnitz on the
Harley.”
Berry started off
great in Englishtown, using qualifying runs of 7.212/183.15 and
7.167/186.51 to land in the No. 7 spot after Friday qualifying was
finished.
“We ran real well
right away and then just kept at it by slowly changing the set-up to
match the weather conditions,” said Berry.
A better 7.150 /
185.43 pass Saturday morning verified the Englishtown tune-up before
a final 7.175/186.69 lap Saturday afternoon. At the end of
qualifying, the MB Precision Machining Suzuki sat in the No. 10 slot
in the 16 bike field.
But it was the
Sunday round one elimination run that Berry will remember from Old
Bridge Township Raceway Park.
Even with a great
.018 to .078 reaction time advantage from the Berry machine, it
would be Schnitz who reached the finishline first, by a slight .052
of-a-second.
“Our 7.131 was
best of session and third best of eliminations for the Suzuki’s, and
I am pretty happy about that. I am a bit surprised this motor is
working so well considering it was thrown together at the track, but
when it runs like it did this weekend it gets us pretty excited for
the next race.”
